South Kesteven District Council - Local Development Scheme 2025-2028

Dear Parish Clerk/Chair,

The 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act places a statutory duty on councils to outline, within a Local Development Scheme, which documents will form part of the Council’s Local Plan, and the timetable for plan preparation. Local Development Schemes must be kept up to date; and revised to reflect any anticipated slippage in Local Plan production.

The South Kesteven Local Plan adopted in January 2020 commits the Council to undertake a review of the Local Plan. Due to new National Planning Policy Framework which was published in December 2024 the Council has reviewed its Local Plan timetable. It is important that the Council keeps local communities and interested parties updated with the progress of the Local Plan review. The South Kesteven Local Development Scheme has been revised to ensure that the timetable for the Local Plan review is realistic and achievable.

The revised Local Development Scheme (2025-2028) was approved at Cabinet on 11 February 2025 and can be found on the Council’s website at the link below

The next stage of consultation will be a Regulation 18 consultation in Summer 2025. To find out more about the Local Plan review please visit the following webpage: Local Plan Review | South Kesteven District Council

Yours Sincerely,

Planning Policy Team
South Kesteven District Council
