We are seeking your comments on the Draft Statement of Community Involvement and Draft Design Code, along with supporting documents.

Draft Statement of Community Involvement Consultation
Friday 13th March to Friday 24th April 2026
The Council is inviting comments on the Draft Statement of Community Involvement. The Statement of Community Involvement sets out standard, a methodology, and arrangements on how the Council will consult and report back to those engage in the process. It explains how people can get involved at each stage of plan making and during the consideration of planning applications.
The Statement of Community Involvement presents arrangements for carrying out a consultation to establish a two-way process between the community and Council. Additionally, it provides the community with opportunities to help shape their local areas, and creates a transparent, fair, and open planning process.
The Draft Statement of Community Involvement along with further information is available to view on the Council’s website – www.southkesteven.gov.uk/planning-building-control/planning-policy-local-plans/statement-community-involvement

Draft Design Code Consultation
Monday 16th March to Monday 27th April 2026
South Kesteven District Council is producing a Design Code for the District. The code will set standards for how buildings, streets and public spaces should look, feel and function.
From Monday 16th March, the Draft Design Code and supporting documents (including District Characterisation Studies) will be available on the Council’s website - www.southkesteven.gov.uk/designcode
Information Sheets on engagement, the Design Code, District Characterisation, and Area Types will also be available to view online.
If you wish to comment on the Draft Design Code Consultation, please ensure that your response is received by 11:59pm on Monday 27 April 2026.

You can submit comments in the following ways:

You will need to set up an account online. Guidance on how to use the portal is available at the link above.

Local Plan Timetable - Revised Local Development Scheme 2026-2029
The Council has updated its Local Development Scheme to show the revised timetable for preparing the South Kesteven Local Plan. The revised timetable reflects an update to the Regulation 19 consultation, while the submission of the Local Plan remains scheduled for December 2026.

Over the past couple of years we have held a broad range of engagement events, targeted at different audiences and gathering different levels of information – from broad opinions about the character of the District and preferences for new neighbourhoods to more detailed and focused opinions about the Code document. This has been fed in to the Draft Design Code and this is set out in Information Sheet 1 – Engagement on our website: A Design Code for South Kesteven | South Kesteven District Council
We are at the more focussed stage of the engagement journey and we hope to gather opinions from the primary users of the Design Code.
We would like to inform you about the proposed event below:
