10.21  To accept apologies of absence.

Apologies had been received and were accepted from Councillor Lilley.

11.21 To agree the minutes of the last meeting held on Tuesday 9 June 2020.

Agreed and signed as a true copy.

12.21 To receive the Clerks report.

Letters have been issued to all the residents whose properties back on to section C of the Old Cemetery advising them that tree work will take place sometime during the Autumn providing planning permission is granted. Three residents have responded welcoming the work and asking what will be carried out. This has been difficult to answer as the parish council will need to be guided by the tree specialists and any work is dependent upon planning permission being granted. Contact is being made with several tree service companies in the area with a view to obtaining quotes and preparing to apply for planning permission.

Signage has been placed in the Cemetery giving visitors notice to remove ornaments and planting etc from the graves as it is the parish council’s intention to revert the area back to a lawn Cemetery. There has been a mixed reaction to this but whilst emotionally draining and time consuming to deal with on the whole the visitors understand the need for this to happen.

Several positive compliments have been received about the improvement in grass cutting and care and attention taken regarding the maintenance of the Cemetery.

Councillor Thomas requested the purchase of some snowdrops and the legalities regarding the scattering of ashes as she would like the parish council to consider an including an area within the Cemetery for this.

Councillor Stevens agreed to share a number of photos of Cemeteries she had visited to provide inspiration and to investigate further the purchase/use of two pieces of land within the parish for the scattering of ashes

Councillor Shinkins-Hoppe agreed to speak to Deeping St James United Charities regarding financial support to a family towards purchasing a headstone

13.21 To receive an update on the number of burials, cremations and reservations since the last meeting.
