The minutes were taken by the Parish Clerk

23.19 To receive apologies of absence.

All present.

23.20 To receive any declarations of interest.

None declared.

23.21 To agree the minutes of the last meeting held on Thursday 6 September 2022.

Agreed and signed.

23.22 To consider and agree a recommendation to be made to Council on how the Cemetery footpaths are to be improved.

Councillor Olson referred to the minutes of the meeting on 6 September 2022 which stated that the committee had agreed that two of the paths in the old Cemetery (the two closest to Church Walk) would be returned to grass and other two paths in the old Cemetery (the two closer to Hereward Way) would be grassed with a grid system laid to make them more hardwearing.

Councillor Shinkins-Hoppe advised that since then it had been agreed that a secure steel storage shed would be installed at the rear of the old Cemetery behind the Hereward Way properties and the maintenance team had suggested that it would be more hardwearing and practical if the path leading up to this storage unit was a solid path rather than a grided grass system. A discussion ensued about what sort of solid path to install taking into account that the land was susceptible to movement and access would still be needed for grave digging equipment.

It was agreed that the committee would RECOMMEND to full council that an external contractor should be used to return two paths to grass, one path to grass with a grid system installed and the path closest to Hereward Way should be slabbed with York Stone slabs which although more expensive than ordinary slabs would be more solid hardwearing and weather well. Enquiries should also be made at the same time about re-slabbing or re-laying the slabs in the new Cemetery.

23.23 To note the date of the next meeting – 7.45pm on Thursday 3 January 2023
